Trans-gender bathroom non-issue
What seems to come up time and time again is a trans-gender person use of the appropriate restroom, this being either in school or an adult in a public setting.
Lets look at both scenarios and what makes sense.
The main issue is that most of the memes that you see show "transgender" and then BOYS or MEN in women's spaces. This is actually very biased. Transgender doesn't mean male to female, it also means female to male, i.e. Trans-man, not just trans-woman. These genders are present in equal amounts, 50/50.
High school ...
I am not going to reference a bunch of publicly available documents here as it's just such common knowledge, you just need to google it.
High schools in the US generally have around 750 students. Of those students, about 10-15 are trans-gender. So it we take the average, lets say 12 and divide by 2, we have biologically 6 male and 6 female, therefore each a trans-girl and the females being trans-boys.
Focusing as trans-girls for the moment, these girls have likely been socially transitioning for a while and already hang out with other girls. All they want to do is continue to be with their peers, and that includes going to the restroom together. A trans-girl is going to be presenting female, so asking her to use the boys restroom is dangerous, the risk of her being assaulted goes up considerably, not to mention how demeaning it is for her to be presenting as female in a boys restroom. That is just plain disrespectful.
You may say, well, what about all the girls having to deal with that 'boy' in the restroom ? Well, what boy ? She is presenting as a girl, and we are talking a handful of students that already know each other. Trans-gender people have brain function that more closely matches their gender, not their sex – this is a medically proven fact.
My child goes to a high school in a fairly conservative mid Georgia city. He has friends that are trans, gay, bi. Both male and female. The bottom line is no one cares. The students simply accept other students. The only people who seem to get bent out of shape by the subject, are adults.
You also may think, well, those 'boys' are going to assault girls. Really ? Nonsense. You really think that a trans-girl that is presenting as a girl is really thinking “hooray I can do crap !” that's silly.
You want to know what is a danger to high school girls ? Cisgender males in general. 7,000 assaults on high school girls every year, and apart from maybe ONE case a year, the 6,999 are cisgender male if not 100%.
Adult use case …
Contrary to popular opinion, i.e. facebook, the majority of biological women do not care about trans-women using public restrooms. Trans-women generally look feminine, act fem and unlike biological males, have low testosterone and high estrogen, and as such are a pretty much a zero issue.
The problem arises when trans-women get forced to use the men's restroom. Same scenario as in high school, higher risk of assault and totally demeaning experience. There is however the additional issue of biological females that are trans-men using the women's restroom, they generally are very masc looking like they have just stepped out of the local basspro shop. Do you really want someone who looks totally male in the women's restroom ? I for sure do not.
This also then opens Pandora's box for predatory males to pretend to be trans-men and try gaining access to women's spaces.
A few months ago I attended a comedy club, it was a lesbian stand up comedian in our conservative Georgia town. Maybe 150 women present, some trans-women too. There are two genders of restrooms, men's and women's. The Men's room never got used. EVERYONE used the women's potty, did anything happen ? Nope, just talk about dresses and outfits.
So, given how small the trans-gender population is, and then how few trans-women are using female spaces, is it really a problem given that a trans-women is basically in girl-brain mode every day and is mostly just concerned with how her makeup looks and whether her muffins will come out the oven puffy enough. People tend to quote safety issues all the time, but there are so few incidents. You're better off worrying about the 670,000 yearly assaults on women by cis-gender male predators.
There maybe some confusion on what an average trans-man and trans-woman looks like, well, just like anyone, they can be far more masculine or very feminine. You can just google images of either and see a whole slew of drop dead gorgeous trans-women or equally masculine trans-women who may have only just started transitioning.
But here are three ...
This is a trans-male (model) who was is biologically female at birth and is now MALE. But, if you want same-sex restrooms, HE will be going potty with biologically women.
