Trans women – are they women and what do they do ?
Are trans-women "women" ? Well from most standpoints – yes. Take the word "trans" it's latin for "on the other side of", this means that while not biologically a woman, in the same way a trans-man isnt biologically a male, there are intrinsic similarities to that gender. That is precisely what we are comparing to here, gender.
No
trans-women is proclaiming to be a biological female or presuming to
replace a biological woman, far from it, most trans-women are staunch
feminists. By their very nature, a trans-woman is born as a
trans-gender individual, a result of genetics and hormonal in-balance
between the 11th and 19th week of gestation,
the key time period when genitals are forming and the brain
structure. This has been researched off and on for about two decades
now and is fairly well decided it is the case. So as far as the false
narratives that trans-women are just men in dresses, a trans-woman is
really a woman in a dress. She transitions to become more of what her
perceived gender is based upon birth, that is female. Will she every
achieve that, no, but none the less, she tries to get to where she
needs to be at to deal with her dysphoria.
Many
negative connotations exist surrounding trans-women and they are
entirely false. It doesn't take a genius or even someone with a 3rd
grade education level to figure that out. I mean, does it make any
sense to say all trans-women are pedophiles or sex offenders or
perverts to get in to women's restrooms ? No it doesn't. I you
reading this can't move beyond that concept, then maybe you might
want to seek out a therapist.
I
am not saying that there are no trans-women that are on the fringe
elements, but, all social groups have that and without pointing
fingers, cis-gender males are 99% likely sex offenders or likely to
assault women, likely due to the presence of high levels of
testosterone.
So
who are trans-women and what do they do ? They are parents, emergency
workers, soldiers, people. They worry about fixing their hair, doing
makeup, buying too many clothes off Temu, gaining too much weight, oh
crap – what about the beach. What are my kids grades like this
week, what am I cooking for my family for dinner, can I afford
groceries, my kid is sick – HELP.
Trans-women
are maternal too, well, as much as the next woman is. Many would love
to have a child, but lack a uterus, yet another thing nature didn't
provide when souping the genetics and hormone cocktail. Some are
lucky to have children while pre-transitioned, others resort to
adoption or fostering to meet their needs to parent a child. Every
female has an innate need to care for a child, trans-women are no
different. One bucket list item of a trans-woman is to be invited to
a baby-shower or a wedding as a bridesmaid – who doesn't ?
On
top of this they have to deal with mean and hateful comments online
that have no basis in reality. They also have the additional issues
of limited travel due to simple things like identification and
restroom usage. The later for many trans-women is still available to
them, they are after all, female minded individuals and need that
safe space like a cis-gender woman does, as such both groups of
people mostly co-exist just fine.
I
recently went to see a stand-up comedian “Kristin
Key" and being a lesbian, she attracts mostly lesbian
audiences, including many trans-women. While there, did any one (i.e.
Trans-women) use the mens restroom ? no. No one used it at all.
Everyone happily used to womens restroom and the conversations mostly
revolved around what outfits everyone was wearing, both cis and
trans. Yes, about 30-40% of trans-women are exclusively lesbian, yes,
that does in fact mean gay, yes, sexual orientation isnt governed by
sex but by gender.
So,
this is simply how day to day life works with trans-women, they go
shopping, chat to other women, swap ideas, feel safe among each
others company as "women".
